E.I.DuPont De Nemours thought he could make something so terrible that nobody would ever want to see it put to use. Something so destructive as to make war tenfold more tragic. While his patents on the formulation and use of modern smokeless gunpowder did indeed make killing easier, it also made killing less personal.

Think about it: if you have to look at someone as the life fades from their eyes and their blood washes over your hands, you will be damned certain to have a good reason for it! If, on the other hand, you flip a switch and ten thousand are dead, you don't even know it or feel anything.

Long story short; what peach ring is doing will hopefully cure him of his desire to kill, or at least help him to understand the ramifications on a more deep and personal level.
