Donald Trump: Countdown to impeachment day

Post by Clarence »

Who will be president? It's down to 7 .... I'll update as people fall off.

It seems like the candidates get weaker and weaker each year, right? Sanders will be mid 80s if he makes 2 terms!

Here's a totally unbiased list of those remaining in the race:

Democrats:

from New York

Republicans:

I went on a date last summer with a guy who wouldn't shut up about physics and his PhD. He said he didn't think Bernie would make it very far, as he wasn't getting enough attention. He seemed quite skeptical when I said he was a strong contender. I like being right. Even though I think Hilary will end up running, Bernie still has a decent chance.

I don't even know the difference between democrats and republicans. To my understanding the US is a democratic republic. Who's left and who's right?

We technically do have other parties running, but they don't stand a shot at all.

The "other parties" are not represented in the primaries; only in the general election. It is skewed to be a two party system, which is really a one party system through which they keep all Americans at odd with one another, thus easier to control.

My father doesn't want Sanders to win. He says that if Sanders wins, then it will result in a gridlock and nothing will get done.

Here's the way that I look at it:

I think the only reason that Trump is in the lead right now, is because there are so many Republican candidates.

If there were, say, only 2, then there is no way in hell that Trump would be winning in the polls.

That is a very good observation. Back in 1976, the Democrats did NON want Jimmy Carter to get the bid. They put up a handful of opponents against him, and it ended up dividing the vote such that Jimmy still got the nomination. Carter actually initiated the policies that would become "Reaganomics."

Not sure what the game plan is with Trump and the Republicans.

Just have to watch and wait.

After seeing how congress has been so obstructionist with Obama, I imagine any democratic president will face the same challenge.

I'm still hoping that Trump has a tantrum, drops out of the republican race and runs independently, splitting the republican vote.

Question: so are congress primarily right wing or is it intended to be a spread of political views? I don't really know anything about the US government

It's whoever gets voted in, so I'd assume that means it's meant to be a spread of political views?
Right now it's majority right.

Congress is intended to represent the people of all 50 states. At the moment, there are a majority of Republicans which means they can behave like spoiled children on the playground and vote against pretty much any bill or idea or anything that President Obama presents to them.

In the past a small majority either direction was common, not a big deal, because they all basically represent The American People; but they really started acting like jerks once Obama was elected.

And of course they don't even necessarily represent the majority of Americans, thanks to gerrymandering.

I don't understand how Super Tuesday works.

Seems like Trump has 50 % of the vote while the other republicans have 12.5, 12.5, 12.5,12.5 ....

wtf

There's too many in that pool, he needs to go just against 1 guy

@#@#$%

My fear grows each day he gets closer to the white house ...

I understand that there are many discontented voters but chosing Trump as candidate for the Republicans damages not only GOP's reputation. Imagine what he could do within four years if he was elected. Somehow this two party system doesn't work anymore. If people can only choose between a bad option and a worse one they won't go voting at all. And what happens in the end? Money wins.

I'm seriously bummed out. Bernie is going to be here tomorrow at the Lied Center, but it was only just announced earlier this afternoon and I did not find out about it until I was already home from work. Therefore, I will be unable to attend as it is not enough notice to request time off. :(
