I was supposed to read Animal Farm in 10th grade, but didn't, and still aced the paper. I thought it was dumb then, but now I think I'd like it.

Yaz, I love Taming of the Shrew! The movie 10 Things I Hate About You is loosely based on it. One of the lead characters (some versions call her Katherine, some call her Katherina) was one of a few inspirations for Froot Loop's name.

I love "The taming of the Shrew".

I saw the play, and read it.
In English.

Did I mention that I LOVED it? It got me hooked on reading Shakespeare.

I saw it in theaters when I was in high school. For being a teen film, it was a damn good movie! Still one of my favorites.

The movie version by the name of Kiss Me, Kate! is pretty good. The Moonlighting episode was also funny. To be thorough, you should get to see all this stuff as it relates to the original play.

This thread hasn't been touched for two years!!

I just read Get Shorty by Elmore Leonard. Was pretty good, plot was awesome though sometimes the way it was told got a bit tedious. Still don't really know why it's called Get Shorty, if anyone could enlighten me that'd be good :P

The very last part of the Wheel of Time saga has finaly been translated to Dutch and the paperback edition is out. Now I just have to wait a while for the bound edition (the other thirteen parts that I owe are bound) to be published and I can start reading from the start.

No. Should we, so we can discuss it? Or did you read it and it bothered you so you wanted to vent?

It's brilliant and I was going to make a thread on it once I've managed to work out what to say about it but wanted to see if anyone had read it first (I think it was up for an award so thought people might have heard of it).

Of course. I had it on pre-order. It was amazing how they managed to get everyone who went to see the play to keep shtum about it.

Naturally. :)

I read it in just a couple hours, and really liked it. I wish it were in novel form though, instead of screenplay form.

If you two liked it, I'm gonna read it too. Just was not sure if a theatre script might be that good or if it was going to be a disappointment.

I was worried about that too. Like I said, I'd have preferred a novel, but there were moments where it didn't even feel like I was reading a script. After the kids went to bed, and I had no distractions, I was able to picture the story in my head the same as I would a novel.

But I still pictured Hermione as Caucasian and Ron as a ginger.

It isn't (apparently - I haven't seen it) as good as the play, but a script on its own rarely is. It's still very good.
