Back when you were a vegetarian did you use nuts to supplement your iron and other trace minerals?

I made cheeseburgers for dinner, and Froot Loop made mac n cheese. I really want a vegetable, but instead I'll probably grab some Cheetos and a beer after the kids are in bed.

Last night I watched Grey's while I enjoyed some French bread and brie, with a glass of pinot noir. Unfortunately, the wine was chilled, and not cellar temp. Those first few sips were not tasty.

My brother is in town this weekend, and he is staying at a hotel. Not because I refused to let him sleep on the couch, rather because he refused to sleep on my couch! ha ha ha! Anyway, at his hotel, there is a pancake printer. You hit GO and it "draws" the batter on a moving, non-stick griddle, rolls it under the heating element, and plops a pancake right onto your plate. Pretty fascinating!

Holiday Inn Express. If you had tried a little harder, I could have gotten him a discount at a Wyndham hotel.....

To be fair, the pancakes are not very good. It is a novelty.

Pancakes are as good (or as bad) as the batter. If the pancakes are not very good, it's the batter that's not good. I doubt it has anything to do with it being from new technology.

It's one of those "itsnin a hotel so it is likely a make a lot quickly type of thing, so the batter is probably made to cook a little faster taking from the taste a little

Yes. Also, since breakfast is "free" I am sure they don't use a quality mix for the batter.

I made tamale pie today. :) for those of you not familiar with Mexican cuisine, a Tamale is a dinner item where cooked ground beef or other meat is spiced and then wrapped in a corn meal batter, wrapped in a big leaf (often banana) and cooked either over coals or fire. Well, tamale pie is the same ingredients, only a fry pan is used instead of a banana leaf, and you do it all on the stove top. Meat, tomatoes, olives, taco seasoning get browned together in the pan, pour about 2 cups worth of corn meal batter over the top, cover and reduce head to med-low for about an hour.

I'm about to find out if it was a success or a failure. Going to have a fancy Ginger Beer with it.

Like a child asks for the crust to be cut off their PB&J sandwich, I just cut the rind off my brie. Because it's icky.

You are not wrong to cut off the crust.

Today I went to a big ol' church because in the basement they were selling some amazing down-home Vietnamese food! I got some amazing Pho and a sesame ball that was just so-so. I got some coconut dumplings... shredded coconut and nuts in a light syrup wrapped in a glutinous rice flour then steamed in a banana leaf. Very interesting, pretty tasty, and very filling.

Oh, almost forgot about the green cakes I brought home! ...no idea... green and mildly sweet.
