I made my "famous" (according to FL) vanilla cinnamon pancakes for dinner.

I wanted French onion soup, but didn't have the makings for it.

After work today, I dragged the kids to the store to get makings for French onion soup. I have a very happy tummy. :D

I have a cheese rind (parm and peccorino) broth in my crock pot right now. I don't know what I'm going to make with it yet. Maybe risotto? Maybe a sauce for over steamed veggies?

That sounds fascinating......

I had leftover Vietnamese junk food, and some American junk food.

You know that silly,"THESE TWO INGREDIENT PANCAKES WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER!!" recipe? It is an egg and a banana. Not super exciting. I tried to make an actual recipe out of it today, and had a banana, an egg, 2 scoops of plain yoghurt, 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour. Not bad.

In retrospect, I should have used 1 scoop of yoghurt, and 3 tablespoons of flour. Maybe a self-rising flour.

Either way, they were not awful, just kind of meh. I don't mind because it is my day off.

I made cheese steaks for dinner. Froot Loop turned her nose up at the cheeze wiz, and had cheddar on hers instead. As much as I love cheeze wiz on a cheese steak (it doesn't belong on anything else!), I'm rather proud of my little food snob. :D

I made crepes for dinner tonight. I let Froot Loop choose between adding chives or tarragon to the batter. After smelling both, she chose chives. I smeared a bit of brie on the crepes before filling them with a mixture of caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms. They were served with a bechamel sauce, and they were tasty! :D

I made a lovely omlette with cheddar cheese and then some salsa on top. Toast on the side.

BoGZ made coffee before he left for work, and what was left was still hot enough to drink. :)

Made one potato worth of hashed browns, and the last 2 eggs. Made them the way my little bro does it: over medium, with the yolks broken. As if you started making scrambled eggs, then at the last second changed your mind back to regular fried eggs.

Nice breakfast for my day off! :)

I used the last of my eggs, but I have plenty of olive oil... I may have to try this.

I have friends coming over for dinner tonight. (Asrai and another friend, J, who we went to school with. J is a bit of a foodie too, so when the three of us get together, I like to make really special dinners. Tonight Froot Loop and I will be making a surf n turf. She is trying her hand at pan seared scallops, and I'm making filet mignon with a pate butter and cognac cream sauce. Sides will be potatoes cooked in cream with gruyere and maybe some spinach, sauteed green beans with caramelized red onion, and a carrot puree with lemon and tarragon. If I'm feeling especially brave, I'm going to flambe some apples in cognac and serve them over vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

This meal is entirely experimental, so it could very well suck.

That sounds really good, bells.

Last night I made a beef tenderloin with a red wine and shallot sauce, and some scalloped potatoes with nutmeg and gruyere. Froot Loop made asparagus.

Tonight is taco night. I might make a plantain mash with it.

We just had pork loin braised in milk, asparagus, and gnocchi with creamy pesto and tomatoes. Froot Loop prefers her asparagus as I usually make it, with lemon. Apple Jack has discovered that he actually does like asparagus, but only when I prepare it as I did tonight, with prosciutto, garlic, and balsamic vinegar. Corn Pop was just happy to devour her favorite vegetable. We had a store bought tiramisu for dessert,

Apple Jack is with his Omie until Sunday, so the girls and I had a fancy dinner tonight. Froot Loop and I made lobster tails and steak tartare together, then she made asparagus and I made baked mashed potato swirls. Turns out, Corn Pop loves lobster, and Froot Loop loves raw beef.

I bought a peck of apples that were already ripe... possible on the edge of being too ripe. I can not eat them all before they go funny, so I am going to make Apple Butter out of them!

Never had apple butter, mother made some once, but I didn't try it.
