What exactly is it? My friend was raving about it a while ago, then laughed at me when I asked if it was like Minesweeper.

Minecraft is a 8-bit sandbox building game. (Kinda like Legos, but on steroids)
There are 2 game modes, Creative and Survival. In Survival, you start with nothing and have to mine resources(materials, et cetera) to build stuff. There really isn't an overall goal, except to have fun and build a lot of stuff.

In Creative mode, you have unlimited of every material, resource..

The user interface looks something like this

I've seen some REALLY awesome stuff done in Minecraft. We actually tried to set up a private server here at work (against the rules of the work place). It worked for about half of us, but didn't work for me and a couple others because it turned out we were on different subnets and couldn't get past that for some reason.

He's pretty technical though, because I can't even set up a server correctly for just people in my own house, where his is hosted from over in Germany

The picture he showed you is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY outdated. New Minecraft has enchanting, cats, blazes, a DRAGON, a CONFUSING ENDING...

Also, one must LOL at the broken base.

I know it was n outdated picture.
I was just trying to show the HUD, and that picture has it, except for a couple things like health and experience

Plus the picture still show the basic concept behind the game

I've seen Zelda being used for fields in Minecraft. In fact, they just finished areas for Ocarina of Time.
Kecleon is the greatest! Don't you agree?

I'm watching you! O_O

The Xbox version got an update recently and it's so pathetic. The game can't even tell that I set the difficulty to Peaceful.

Did you have it set as something other than peaceful beforehand?
Maybe the mobs didn't unspawn.. Actually, idk.. I haven't had that happen to me

Well depends which version you have. This is the Xbox with the update that came a couple weeks ago. And I can't change the difficulty in the game. I have to do it in the menu. Sometimes it plays in peaceful but more often then not it just ignores my settings.

I find it stupid. How do you miss something like that? Minecraft may be an addictive and original game but the programmers suck.
