nintendo games!

Post by Wesley »

If you are younger than about 30, you probably don't remember playing crappy 8-bit video games.

You suck.

loads of those old games were tons of fun! Some are better than many of the games coming out right now!

Here is a treasure trove of old NES games, including two of my favorites, Balloon Fight and Spelunker.

YOU suck! Most modern games are amazing immersive experiences.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and tell you to eat a frog. How many awesome games are there right now? lass than a dozen. How much do they cost? More than a day's wages.

I am not saying there are not some fun games out right now. But there are also a ton of crappy ones. Battle Fight 7, zombie shooter 13, multi person shooter 41. Why so damned many sequels?

What this website offers is a metric ton of fun, for free. It is a living museum of how much fun the older folks had when they were young, and a great exposè on the huge variety of creative and engrossing games that can be made with such a small amount of technology.

Before this degrades to fisticuffs, I'll tell you that I have played and do play modern games. You should play a few dozen of these older games so we both have the same experiences, then let's talk again.

I play both, and I can agree on both counts. There were many, many shitty games in the golden heydays. But they weren't advertised and manipulated to be more appealing to investors in a multi billion dollar industry. Also, the average playtime has drastically fallen off while the average price, scaling for inflation has remained relatively constant.

So go play some cool old games, dammit!

PS I still suck at spelunker...

I'm going to assume you haven't played The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, or Skyrim. Some of the best games in recent memory.

That site has Harvest Moon on. Harvest Moon is and always will be a classic.

Just like many games, some of the graphics have evolved, but the aim of the game hasn't changed.

You know what happens when you make an assumption, Reaper?

You make an bottom out of U and MPTION.

Ha ha ha!

Anyway, there are indeed some great new games. Are they the greatest games ever? No. Shut up.

Arrow to the knee. Fus Ro Dah. Elisabeth. Yeah, fun, immersive game play. Now, go play Rygar until you finish it.

The games I mentioned are masterpieces. The only retro games I can think of that do that are Zelda and Final Fantasy. You shut up. I'm the real gamer here.

Mario? A masterpiece? I don't know if I should laugh, cry, or hurl.

Look standards have changed since the 90s. Games went from being just fun to being a work of art.

Reaper, though the games you listed are fun, I have always had more fun playing the other games mentioned. They may have been the best of their time, but most definitely not the best of all time
