And not everyone feels the same way you do. The statement, on it's face, is just a few words. Said with obvious playfulness, it can mean one thing to a bunch of people, another thing to a different bunch of people. Said with condescending aloofness, it will mean something very different than the first one, to the same groups of people.

Anyone can take offense to anything. One of my cats was named Stupid. Loved that cat. But there are people who will be angry and say I am a bad person for giving my cat such a name.

Bottom line, I will never ever tell you that you are cute when you are angry.

But the statement itself is harmless. Like a sword. The damage is done by the person who wields it.

I have been in situations on both sides of the table. It's all about context and timing. I take the side of Zot in this case because as I mentioned before, in a venting session with someone who completely agrees with me and supports me on my decision, I find that to be endearing and really helps to bring down the tone a bit. Still upset and frustrated, but wasting a lot less energy about it afterwards. By by all means is this always the case. There is a time and place for that sort of thing.

On a side note, the moment I see you, I can't wait to tell you you're pretty cute when you're mad.
