Ok, this is kind of a dark book. But it fascinates me.
Meridian Sozu figures out that she is a Fenestra, someone who has to help the dying transition into the afterlife. She doesn't kill anyone, she just makes the transition easier. In this book, (the author is in the process of writing the sequel) Meridian gets shipped off on her 16th birthday to her Auntie's house to learn the ways of being a Fenestra. She figures out that she is fighting against the Aternocti, the people who help people transition into hell instead of heaven like Fenestras do. It was a really good book, but kind of depressing.

Unfortunatly you cannot force that upon kids. Both hubby and I love to read, and from our three kids only the girl loves to read too. The boys both hate it.

Reading isn't for everyone... I find it calming.
