Windows 10: to upgrade or not to upgrade?

I'm not putting this in the Tech News because it is neither new nor cool.

Some of you are using Windows 10, some aren't. What are your thoughts? Is it a good upgrade? Is it awful? Did Windows trick you into it by scheduling an upgrade date for you? Have you been avoiding the upgrade, and if so, why?

Win10 has more sneaky stuff in it, tracking your internet activity, advertising to you, etc. Other than that, it is stable, smooth, and pretty powerful. Ninja digs it. I am still rocking 7, because I am slightly paranoid and I don't like being told what to do.

What Zot said, it works well enough but I feel like I'm not as anonymous as I used to be.

I just went for it.
I actually got it right away.

To be honest, at this point it doesn't even matter to me.
The biggest pain I had with Windows 10 was getting it I itially set up.
They have all their default Windows apps that I immediately remove.

I literally went through every setting option to make sure it was set how I wanted it.
As much as i miss the start menu from 7 and prior, Windows 8 really got me used to the full screen start menu, so I made sure to set the windows 10 start menu to open full screen.

On the surface, I don't really notice much, if you are on 8, it's not a huge transition.
I do hate the settings app, I miss everything being in control panel.

One thing I miss is how previous Windows managed slideshow wallpapers.
I could select specific images out of a folder, now it uses every image in the folder regardless of how you feel about it.

Zot, I absolutely miss windows 7, but when I built my desktop couldn't find anywhere to buy it, so I ended up with 8

As for the sneaky stuff, I honestly just pretend it isn't there. I hate that it's there, but I'm stuck with it. If I wasn't a gamer, and I know this argument is dying, but I would change to Linux.
One of the MMOs me and my friends play simply doesn't work on Windows.

One thing I do like about Linux is that I could seamlessly use multiple storage drives (don't get me wrong, Windows does it fine, but on Linux I set a drive to a folder on the root directory (/media /user) and it just goes with it, and unless one of the drives fills up, or I'm in the disc manager, you wouldn't even know I had multiple drives.

Again with the sneaky stuff though, Google already tracks everything I do online, and anything I do offline is either in documents or games, whatever, they can have my Fallout 4 save, or my Excel spreadsheeta with virtually no personal information on them

The other thing though is that directx 12 will only be supported on Windows 10, and as a gamer, when it gets widely used, am going to need that

That was the main reason I went with it rather than drawing out windows 8.
Like I said though, I am going to eventually fully transition into Linux, as I like it much more

I hate Windows 10. I miss 7.

I'm still using Windows 7 and don't intend to go to 10. Why fix something that isn't broke? If I wasn't using the Adobe CS 5 package so much I would install Linux on my desktop. I have it on a laptop and love it.

I think I'm going to delete the GWX file so it stops asking me. It tried to automatically schedule me an upgrade last week and that's just mean. But from what you've said, it sounds like 7 is still the best option.
