[Help] Serious Laptop help needed.

Post by NTG »

Okay, I am on a Windows laptop. My mouse keeps freezing when I try to move it and sometimes random tabs open without my constent.

If this continues I am unable to continue the NELG.

Help would be appreciated, thanks.

When did this start? Whens the last time you turned your computer off (I mean shut down, not "sleep" mode)
How much free hard drive space do you have?

Also, in a message to me, hit the Windows Key + R, type in "cmd" in the 'open' line. once Command Prompt opens, type "systeminfo" and copy what it spits out into a message inside of the

tags

Have you run a virus check lately? Install any new programs since the issue started, or shortly before the issue started?

Normally I'd be concerned about the only having 1.3GB available but your laptop only has 32 to begin with. I've never been a fan of that sort of laptop because they expect you to store everything in OneDrive...

I'm on mobile on my lunch break right now, so I'll help ya out some more when I get home later

I just did a scan and it says “0 threats found”.
No programs were installed anywhere near the time of this happening

My PHONE has more storage than this laptop :? (256GB)

Like I said, they've started producing a whole line of laptops with enough space for the operating system and a few programs, and expect you to use OneDrive for everything else.
What kind of scan was it? Windows Defender? AVG? Something else? And then was it a quick scan or a full scan?

Anyways. How often do you empty your recycle bin on the desktop?

Also, open up your file browser, on the left hand side, click on "This PC", then on your C: drive, right click on it, and click on "Properties". Then click on "Disk Cleanup", on that thing that pops up, click "Clean up system files", then when it pops back up, click every check box in the "Files to Delete", then at the bottom click "OK"

A Windows Defender quick scan. I am running a full scan right now.

I empty it usually once a week or so, usually don’t have much in there.

Did the hard drive cleanup.

I'm going to have you download a program. you can uninstall it later.
It's called CCleaner.
When you open it, in the 'Cleaner' tab, check all of the boxes (you don't have to check the boxes under the web browser that you use, because that will also delete the passwords you have the browser set to autofill, you also don't have to check the "Network Passwords" under "Windows Explorer" tab. Click clean. Then once that's done, go to the "Registry" tab. make sure all of those boxes are check, and click "Scan for Issues" and the "Fix selected Issues...", repeat until nothing shows up anymore.

Also, in the Windows Task Manager (Win+R, "taskmgr"), in the "Performance" tab, what does it say your CPU Utilization is? Also, what does it tell you the disk utilization(Active Time) is?

CPU Utilization: 6% with random jumps to 40%
I can’t see disk utilization anywhere.

hmm, is that the cpu utilization when the mouse is freezing? my first thought was maybe the cpu was being used fully causing the mouse to slow, but that may not be it..
