You don't need to beat 270.
All you need to do is ask permission and give credit. That's it! I am making a sequel too!
Although getting up to 270 would help you understand tricks that Clarence uses in his game, you can go ahead and make a sequel whenever you want!

You can make your own game and do whatever you want with it, I don't know that a "sequel" game would be a good idea anyways because a sequel usually implies the player has completed the previous game.

Yeah.
I think a "fangame" would be better, starting at level 1 again and using different levels, kind of an "alternate reality"
if it started at 301 every new player would be so confused
