I might quit NELG 2...

My motivation is gone.


I can’t believe that I don’t enjoy what I used to love. I remember being so excited that I thought up an idea for how to beat a NELG level... and when I got approved to make NELG 2... I almost exploded.


But now, there’s nothing.. I dread the thought of making levels sometimes and I still haven’t made level 16.

The NELG forum used to be my life but now it’s just something I check once a week when reddit doesn’t have anything to say.

I’m not quitting the forum, I would never, but I’m thinking of not making NELG 2 anymore.... What do you think?

I think you can just put it aside for a while like a few months, and you may get back the motivation by some other random events in your life! It's quite sad to throw away one self's hard work tbh.

If your'e having fun keep at it - if not put it aside and see if you ever feel like doing it again

I still make comics nobody reads cause I have fun doing it - but I stop when I don't

Lately I been playing old Doom games and learning video editing

Next month I might not care and be on to the next thing

I will probably make more test level-like things because I have no time/patience to make full game levels. What do you guys think of lvl 200-250 equivalent test levels to crank up the difficulty?

The nature of brain plasticity... new synapses -vs- old synapses..... If you spend to much time on a ting, it feels less "new" and soon you will burn out.

Take some time, read a book, learn how to make ice cream. come back to it and see how you feel.

I understand your concerns well enough.

It takes a lot of time for one great piece to be completed. How about recruiting people to work together to make many cool levels? Or maybe you'd like to try making a version that consists only of difficult levels with a smaller scale.

If you don't come up with ideas for new levels, you can mix some of the most impressive solutions from NELG, or add a little something to make a good one. I also use this method to construct the algorithm.
