Idea that would’ve worked in 2010

Post by NTG »

The “Community Level Bank”

Basically, you submit a level idea to Clarence.

If he thinks your idea is good, it gets made into an actual levels and put in the NELG elites levels (300+)

If your level idea is bad then it doesn’t get put into the game

This would be a way to create more NELG for all, but Clarence doesn’t know Flash and it’s dying anyway. Maybe someone else could run it with Clarence’s approval? I dont know aanything about coding except Scratch so it can’t be me.

Why not

With the original game about to be non functional

Why not bring traffic back by hosting people's games on the main page

What do you say Moe?

Maybe, someone learns HTML5, or other coding language? Flash will only be around for a few months so Flash isn’t really a good option.

I’ll also make an attempt to learn HTML5, maybe I’ll help run the CLB in a few years

I can imagine a few years later playing someone’s fan-made Level 542...

Or maybe... it doesn’t need to be in the NELG elites, they could be strung together into the official sequel, Never Ending Community Game! So many ideas... but I doubt a whole sequel.

I know everything HTML/CSS aside from making games with it, mostly because I've never had ideas for games so I never bothered with that side if it.

What would the layout look like. Like right now it's just a box with a game in it. Would it be thumbnails of other games that link to it? Would we host those games on our site or would the links go to other sites that the games are hosted on?

I would need to figure out how to host different types of games if we go that route. I'm not shooting it down, I'm just trying to work out in my head, out loud, the best way to do this

I don't know something simple low-maintenance and very easy

up to you and if you're free for any kind of endeavour but I'd like to keep it simple for everybody

right now there's only two or three tribute games they could all just be slammed into a main page thing somehow right

I'm just throwing out ideas so it's up to you buddy

Also yeah lean towards linking two projects already made versus trying to host anything for anybody

Like I said if you wanted to do something like this something extremely quick and easy

I know it's thinking about this because once my game is gone the site's going to have nothing in it

The NELG remakes will survive, since NELG2/CMAY is not made in Flash and Level Killer is getting an HTML port in the next update (160, I think?)

But yeah I don’t know what we can do with the original game, as we discussed a few months back, we would have to make the whole thing from scratch, which is improbable and a ton of work.

And also you could do something NELG elite style, put links on the site that lead to webpages with individual fan made levels on each page. If we do the Community Level Bank thing.

I have noticed that the elite levels have a website that ends in .html, are they in HTML and not Flash? Maybe they can be a part of the start of the fan made levels, 301, 302....309, fan made 310, 411 (311)?, fan made 312, fan made 313, 314, fan made 315, etc

No, they are also flash. Why you are seeing .html is because they are embed into an HTML file, but they are the only thing in the file. Because if it ended in just .swf, navigating to the page would just prompt most people asking them to download the file.

Oh. The elite levels are the easiest to “save”, as they are only single levels and not a full 300 level game.

And Clarence- when (if?) we get level submissions open- I have a few suggestions :)

For awhile I was working on an archive of old versions of the game, then that ended up coming to an end

I think we have the level 64(65), 160, and 200 versions, as well as the joke “reaper” version. Don’t remember anything else, except I checked the win screens and 160’s was pretty cool

I want to play 160 version...
Why I dont play NELG early? If I play it earlier 12 years, I can complete less 140 levels

Here's a list. The ones with working links are ones that I've made a page to play them on for
