I recently read,"The truth, with jokes" by Al Franken. I have always liked him as a comedian. In interviews he comes off as intelligent. The book was obviously written from his personal and political standpoint, but it does not come off as preachy. I like that. The not preachy part. I enjoyed the book quite a bit even though it is now 4 years out of date and was a rehashing of the mistakes made by political leaders here in the United States. Almost spilled my TANG there... sometimes I like a glass of hot TANG. Anyway, whether or not you give a crap about American politics, this book is fun to read and you may enjoy it.

i recently had to read Shiver for a school project. at first i thought it was gonna be crud, just like Twilight. but i got hooked, its an addicting book. sure there are some times where you say, "ugh, thats so cliche. they're being to romantic" and it might repel you from reading the book. but other times it keeps you guessing, asking questions. because even though this book has werewolves (kind of), its not like other books where you can control the transformation. the problem is that the cold makes them change unexpectedly, and the heat changes you back into a human. but after awhile it takes more heat to change back and less cold to shift, and theres a point where you just stay a wolf. i could actually feel like i was there, and i started to actually FEEL BAD for some of the characters, which is pretty rare for me. i also finished Linger, the second book in the series, and im waiting for Forever, the third book, to come out.

and yes, its a romance novel. if your not into romance, this might make you sick. im not into romance and i almost stopped reading because of the sudden romance scenes.

yeah, but its weird cause i was never really into that type of stuff. the books i read are usually fantasy, or action, or even both. although the occasional mystery novel is pretty good. realistic fiction is also fun ^^

i think Shiver is one of the first romance novels i like...unless there are others that im forgetting to count.

oh, and for you sci-fi fans out there, try reading Fahrenheit 451. i liked it.

We read that in English this year. I hated it. We had to analyze it and it was so confusing and BLAH.

its pretty confusing sometimes, but i had to read it for one of my book reports and my teacher suggested it to me because she thought i could probably understand it, and i did. well, sort of. i got the plot and the point and everything, but if you ask me about it now i cant tell you about any details because my memory is not so good...

OH MY GOD! ~ I saw a short film based on this when I was 9 or 10 years old and I loved it and I have not been able to find it since! I had no idea it was Bradbury, but it makes sense in retrospect. The social and psychological aspects of the story make you almost forget it is taking place on Venus. I am happy now in a nostalgic, excited way! Thanks Chex!!!! ~ ~

For the longest time, I had no idea what it was called. I only knew it was by Ray Bradbury. We should have talked about it ages ago!

I just finished reading a book called 'When I was five I killed myself' it was good though.

What was it about, sizzle?

It was about this little eight year old (or nine year old.. can't remember) called Burt, who was in this mental home for children. You know he's in there because of 'what he did to Jessica' but you don't know what this means, really. So the book tells the story of why he's in there, and of what life is like there. It's written really simply, it's really interesting actually.. but very weird, i've never read anything like it, and doubt i ever will. I'd recommend it if you like strange books.
