Walkthru
Seriously?!? Using a walkthru for a puzzle game is like the king claiming to have slain the already dead dragon at the end of Dragonslayer... Or like riding a bike with training wheels until you are 20... or claiming you can make pizza because you know how to dial a phone for take-out. I don't understand the mentality of people who just ask for passwords or use a walkthru or need to be spoonfed the answers. The point of this game is to test your limits... to stretch your capacity for learning... to be frustrated and yet have fun. Perhaps there should be a game where there is a list of levels on the left, a list of passwords on the right, and all you do is click and drag the one onto the other. "Hey, I just beat the hardest game ever!! Yeah, I am so cool, it was totally easy!" You ask one of these motley fools what their name is, they have to look around and ask! How is it possible to actually be proud of getting the password from somewhere else and poking it into the required location without having to work for it? These are the people that hack the little internet games so they can post scores of a million when it is only possible to get 250 points. Phooey!
Okay, enough ranting for now. I just want to say how much I enjoy this game. When I come across a new level that really makes me think.... I can almost feel my brain sweat from the mental workout. And that type of thing stays with you in other areas of life. Basic problem-solving skills are sometimes missing from the newer generations of kids raised with computers and the internet and video games and all. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE video games... I have several full-size arcade games in my house. But when a person is used to getting things right away all the time, they lack the patience needed for many of life's problems. Instant gratification is nice, but it is important to be able to wait patiently for the right answer from time to time.
Ahhh! There I go ranting again. To sum up:
Cheaters should be flushed down a toilet and pitied for their lack of basic life skills.
For those who do it the right way, life is it's own reward.

I've never read this before! I love it!
Absolutely correct sum up of the entire game. This statement makes all use of walkthroughs obsolete.GreatZot wrote:The point of this game is to test your limits... to stretch your capacity for learning... to be frustrated and yet have fun.

Re: Walkthru
I think I made this post originally before I was even a mod. I was just a huge fan of the game and totally opposed to cheaters.

Re: Walkthru
I have decided to share my opinion about cheating.
I will admit that I use the walkthrough, but I don't use it to get in the hall of fame. In fact, I am not, and will never be
there. Nor do I have any desire to. I use the walkthrough after trying on a certain level because it is my beleif that it is no fun
to be stuck on a certain level for a very long time, that is why I have completed about half of the levels on my own. In fact, I don't
play the NELG just to get to the hall of fame. I play the NELG mostly for fun. That's why I use the walkthrough, and at the same time
NOT be in the hall of fame, that just proves that I like the never ending level game. So what if you call me a cheater? I don't care,
at least I cheat fairly. In fact, using the walkthrough isn't all that easy anyway. There are so many levels, that there arn't any walkthroughs
that could catch up to the number of levels there are, so I constantly have to switch sorces. Some times I just solve the level myself,
because some levels (even the levels past Level 150) are THAT EASY. I was reading the same post on th old forum, and
somone named Mouse said "How can one achieve a sense of accomplishment if they didn't actually accomplish anything themselves?". Well, what about
the people who didn't come to accomplish anything? What about those who don't want to spend months and months trying to beat the Never Ending Level Game.
I'm just tackling the game from a diffrent angle, and there are many advantages, and a few disatvantages to that. That's all I'm doing, and there is nothing wrong with that.
clarence should be glad that some people are using the walkthrough that means they show intrest in his game, if I made a really hard game, and posted a walkthrough for it, nobody would use it because they wouldn't think it would be worth it. I believe that using the walkthrough is exactly as hard as not using the walkthrough. First you have to find people who are willing to share answers or give away hints (witch is a big pain in the @$$), then I have to find out what those people are actualy saying (witch is another big pain in the @$$)after days and days of working on trying to get the answer, you finally find out how to beat the level. Your reward for this painstaking mental excersise is to move on to the next level. It's like an alternate way to beat the never ending level game
I think it's fun to be able to
feel that sence of accomplishment
even when I use the walkthrough. It's like instead of saying "Yay! I finnished the level all by MYSELF"
It's like saying "Yay! I found one of the 8 walkthroughs out of the billion other sources I could have just as easily found, and translated the walkthrough's leet speak into something I only can
only make an educated guess of
when there are still a million other things the walkthrough could
be saying, and when that doesn't work I keep on doing the same thing over and over while slowly
finding out what the level really means, and after days and days and days of hard work, I pass
the level using both the help
provided by the cheats and the
help I provided mysaelf while I was
trying to find a walkthrough...
all by MYSELF" if you see what I
mean. Some of the Level's answers are so complicated that
the walkthroughs can only serve as hints.
I think that it is OK to use the walkthrough as long as you don't take credit for beating the level, that's all, and some people don't even want the credit for beating the NELG. I also think posting walkthroughs is OK, how the veiwer uses the walkthrough is what really matters. Walkthroughs are like medication, where it can sieriously help/hurt depending on how you use it. Walkthroughs, in my opinion, should be used as last resort, or if you djust want to finnish the game, but you don't want to spend Years and Years at it (one of the levels I solved myself (221) I guessed completly on accident, and I would have wondered what would happen if I didn't guess that...), and not as a 1-way ticket to the hall of fame.
People who use the walkthroughs are not stupid. For one, not all people misuse
walkthroughs (for the reasons abve), and for two, even people who DO misuse walkthroughs aren't
stupid, they are just smart people
making wrong choices.
Next release, I'm planning to solve all of the levels myself though.
Conclusion: The walkthrough can be used, as long as it doesn't give a one way ticket to the Hall Of Fame
That is my opinion.

Re: Walkthru
Hmmm, long story, wonder if you ever asked anything in the help section.
We really like to help without telling ppl the pw or help if they get stuck at the levels... i needed a lot of hints though, but i get to know some ppl on this forum as i asked for help and looked around here.

I wasn't allowed an account until just now, after all that happened (yes, I've seen the HOF page). Now there is nothing to ask help about.Forky wrote:Hmmm, long story, wonder if you ever asked anything in the help section.

Maby until the next release? . I've said I'd finnish those levels myself.

Re: Walkthru
Clov i ment this:
Sure you are through the levels now.
So this forum is actually a place to ask your questions about the game, and lets this forum live somehow. In the end we won't tell pw's, but we give you hints or riddles what to do in the levels.Clovvach wrote:First you have to find people who are willing to share answers or give away hints (witch is a big pain in the @$$)

Re: Walkthru
I totally agree with everything you say, I do read your hints sometimes, but I have to go through the help section page by page to see if there is a topic for the level I'm working on, even when I do; sometimes your hints and riddles leave me more confused, but yah your right. They can reallly help if I'm lucky enoughForky wrote:Clov i ment this:So this forum is actually a place to ask your questions about the game, and lets this forum live somehow. I guess you know it right. You wrote exactly the same there and I asked you to think again. Since then you registered here and said you're planning to solve all the levels yourself from now on. Congratulations, I think there's hope...Clovvach wrote:I don't know....@ Clovvach:

Re: Walkthru
Your right, if both ways of playing the game are hard, fun, and teach you the same thing, I suppose I should just play the game for real becuase that's what would make every one happy. Sadly I'm going to have to wait 'till november to start playing again XDArdour wrote:I guess you know it right. You wrote exactly the same there and I asked you to think again.
