Re: Recipes
They're the same thing. British jelly = American jello.

Re: Recipes
Shay we just call them different names, we call your 'jelly' jam, and we call your 'jello' jelly. So when I said vodka jelly I basically meant jello shots :p

Re: Recipes
orgy POPPYCOCK! That's just absurd. What do you call our jam then? Cuz there is a definite difference between jam and jelly.
(Btw, I know you guys use different words and stuff. I just like to give British shazam!. )

Re: Recipes
The major difference between jelly and jam is how it's made really. Jelly doesn't have any fruit in it. It's basically just strained flavor from the fruit. Jam actually uses the fruit to make the jam, basically cut up and crushed and whatnot. Make sense?
And what the hell, you didn't know that either, Chex?

Re: Recipes
Jelly and jam are both primarily used as fruit spreads on things such as toast, bagels, muffins, pancakes, etc. Jello is a fruit flavored gelatin. It's more of a side/dessert item. Definitely not a spread of any kind.

Re: Recipes
Conserve is like your jam. Jam is like your jelly.

Re: Recipes
Shay, that's not jam. I'd call that preserves.

Re: Recipes
It was the best picture I could find. In Jam the fruit is more mashed than that.

Re: Recipes
Here, I found a better picture. You can still tell it's mashed fruit.

Re: Recipes
Here's an easy meal that makes tasty leftovers.
Baked Spaghetti
Remember, I measure nothing. Just eyeball it. Sorry.
Brown some hamburg meat, then drain and set aside.
Bring a big pot of water to a boil. Get a handful of spaghetti and break it into thirds before adding it to the water. (I use enough to wrap my thumb and index or middle finger around it.) Boil the pasta to el dente. (don't over cook, since you're going to be baking it, too)
Drain the noodles and return to the pot. Add a jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce. Add the beef, a few spoonfuls of sour cream, and a big handful of mozzarella cheese. Stir it all together. Last time I made this, I added cubes of cream cheese and gently stirred them in. Now pour it into a cake pan, top it with cheddar cheese, cover it with foil, and bake. I usually bake for a little under half an hour at 350.

I am so making this the next time I go to the store. (I still have not ran out of my $85 worth of groceries I bought last month.)

Easy as hell. I usually serve it with cottage cheese and garlic bread.

Re: Recipes
I still have frozen garlic toast in my freezer that I tend to pile on extra cheese. And I love the shazam! out of cottage cheese. I went through my tub in two days.
