Battle of the Things

Post by coolio3 »

I got this game off another forum, but changed the rules a bit.

Basically, this game is where the randomest of things are placed head-to-head in a poll in a large tournament!

The rules are, we start with 64 items sorted into 32 vs matches. Then we play each vs match one at a time. You vote for which thing you think is best - the first to receive enough votes proceeds to the next round! The winning item is the last thing left!

These are the requirements for an item to win in each round:
Round 1 - 5 votes
Round 2 - 10 votes
Round 3 - 15 votes
Round 4 - 20 votes
Round 5 - 25 votes
Round 6 - 30 votes

Note that you can only vote once per battle unless they last quite a while, you can vote again after 48 hours.

Here are the match-ups for Round 1:

Battle 01: USA vs Animals
Battle 02: The Economy vs The 1980s
Battle 03: The Internet vs The Cinema
Battle 04: Zebras vs Money
Battle 05: Television vs Telemarketers
Battle 06: Numeracy vs Lemonade
Battle 07: Internet Memes vs Video Games
Battle 08: Chess vs Bingo
Battle 09: Green vs Paper
Battle 10: Football vs Meat
Battle 11: Henry VIII vs Chuck Norris
Battle 12: The White Cliffs of Dover vs Diamonds
Battle 13: iPhone vs PacMan
Battle 14: Nintendo vs France
Battle 15: Time vs Fish
Battle 16: Breakfast vs Red
Battle 17: Technology vs Brains
Battle 18: Dogs vs Free Time
Battle 19: Homework vs Annoying Orange
Battle 20: YouTube vs Facebook
Battle 21: Europe vs Russia
Battle 22: The Leaning Tower of Pisa vs Super Mario
Battle 23: Minesweeper vs The 1930s
Battle 24: American Revolution/American War of Independence vs Albert Einstein
Battle 25: Happiness vs Destiny
Battle 26: Nintendo DS vs The Impossible Game
Battle 27: Heaven vs Wars
Battle 28: God vs Twitter
Battle 29: Leonardo da Vinci vs A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Battle 30: Computers vs Monochrome
Battle 31: Challenges vs Trollface
Battle 32: Midnight vs The Eiffel Tower

The battle in bold is currently in progress. Note that when a battle ends, you can start the next before I come online and update.
Items shown in green won the battle.
Items shown in red have been eliminated.

What about animals living in the USA?

That game sounds a bit complicated, how do you give a vote for things so different?

Just vote for which you like best. How can I make it simpler?

It sounds a bit like the 'This or That'-game.

But that isn't a tournament, and these things are totally random.

What's the price? If it's a tournament there's a price to win.

My This or That things usually are pointless and unrelated. This seems to be a bit of a +1 to me.

LaLou, there's no prize. We're just finding out what we like best. How could I give Free Time a prize, for example?

Alialialia, but your pairs of things are always two related things. And you don't change them after a specific amount of time. The two games are totally different.

So what does voting for one actually achieve?

Your item has a better chance of getting five votes first.

I'm nto sure if our forum is currently busy enough for items to get 30 votes later on as noted.

That's why it says in the rules you can vote again after 48 hours.

Someone vote? Please?

I vote for animals, considering the fact that I consider myself more of a citizen of planet earth than a citizen of America :)

Ok new vote and people are allowed to vote as many times as they want. Who wants me to start locking this new batch of dumb games and sending them to hell. Just for fun I decided that it will be a number that I won't tell anyone and when we make the proper amount of votes, I will make good on my threat.

That seems very unfair. What have I done to touch to deserve that?
