Drawception

Post by Shay »

Jon sent this to me and thought it would be a fun thing to do with NELGers and get you all involved. Remember the game Telephone? Where one person starts out whispering in someone's ear, then that person whispers in another's ear, and so on and so forth until we get back to the original person and laugh at how different it is from what was actually said in the first place?

This game is just that! http://drawception.com/

1) A player begins a game with a short phrase. For example, "A cow jumping over the moon"
2) A randomly chosen player then draws that phrase (within 10 minutes using simple tools)
3) Another random player describes the new drawing
4) Yet another player draws the new description
5) Steps 3 and 4 repeat until 12 unique players have participated

You guys should totally join up and check it out. My username is SpanishDoll. Jon's is Jon4644.

Ok, seriously. This game is a lot of fun. You guys should totally join! If we can get at least 12 players we can get a private game going between ourselves.

I think that is the point. The unintentional comedy that comes from fun and silly drawings between friends. I will join once I have a cup of coffee.

You're exactly right, Zot. It's really funny to see what it started out with and how it ended up by everyone's interpretation of the quotes and drawing. When the panel comes to you, you don't get to see what any of the frames were before, just the last text or drawing. I love it. When it's busy at work, giving me only 5-10 minutes between calls, sometimes less (a slow day is like 30 min - 2 hrs between calls), this is my favorite past time to just let ease the night between calls.

By the way, my username is SpanishDoll and Jon's is Jon4644.

So how long does a round take? Is there any time limit or any pressure to deliver?

That's good then, cause I usually just do a quickie, but then I have some good ideas and I am ready for another in no time.

You have ten minutes to submit your drawing or text interpretation of someone's drawing. I'm not sure if the same applies on friend games (as I have yet to set one up), but public games offer a "skip" button if you do not feel comfortable with the given drawing or text. Being that it would be private though, I'm sure we could all just wing it and make it rather amusing. The other rules to it are that public games have to remain PG, but private games are whatever you make of them. You can't create a game until you get ten points though. You receive points by people liking your drawing or text response. Jon and I both have over ten points, so we can start the games until you guys get ten points, which I'll just go through liking everyone's.

Now the time limit for the whole game does not matter. Since people can skip and whatnot, it can go on for quite some time. It's great for those who are in different time zones too. Once the game has finished, it will show up in your history and you will receive notifications of games completing and comments.

I haven't figured out a good way to search people yet. Sometimes I can do a search and find people and sometimes I can't. Can you go to your profile and copy the URL? I'll post the URL for both Jon and I so you can find us and follow us, and I will follow you.

Oh yeah, that's how "friends" work in this. It's by following, kind of like Kongregate.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just saw you already followed me. I found ya now. :)

Just thought I would post this here. It made me think of Clarence since it's all about bacon. I drew the final panel.

Hell yes! That bacon game I posted ended up in the top games. Totally made my day. Not feeling the greatest and can't sleep. So came online and found something to smile about. Yay...
