50 shades of grey
I have not read it yet. Have you? And what are your thoughts?

I haven't read it. I figure, if I want to read poorly written porn, I'll read it for free online. If I score a free copy though, I'll give it a shot.

I haven't read it either, not sure if it's worth all the hype.

Re: 50 shades of grey
I find that anything marketed toward women can be called,"literature" even if it is the smuttiest smut.
Playboy magazine has to go on the top shelf behind black plastic, and Cosmopolitan is right at eye level, even though Cosmo has scantily clad women and articles on new kinky sexual positions and reasons to give your man a blow job.
If I were a woman, I would most likely not read 50 shades of whatever.
Then again, as twisted as I am I have still not watched Human Centipede.

Never read it and certainly don't plan to. Go figure, the "man" of the house keeps trying to get me to.

:snickers:
I'll fully admit that I'm curious about it, but I'm willing to bet I can write a better tickle fight scene. I'm also willing to bet I've had better tickle fight.

That is a very good reason NOT to read it.Raïn wrote:Never read it and certainly don't plan to. Go figure, the "man" of the house keeps trying to get me to.
My daughter has read it and she tries to get me to read it. I'm curious what all the fuss is about, but I'm also very reluctant to try something that is a hype. I've learned to trust my own judgement.
I think I'll read a chapter and tell you what I think about it.

Re: 50 shades of grey
I know some people who have read it (often as a joke- my friend got given a copy for his 18th birthday as a joke present) but it's mostly just mocked by people my age. Not planning to read it, it sounds kind of cliched and wimpy and not very good...

Re: 50 shades of grey
So, I started to read it. My question still is: "What is all the fuss about?"
The characters are very, very 1-dimensional. Flat! Nothing really happens for 129 pages.
I would not recommend it. I've read better Harlequin pockets than this book. If I had to make a top ten of worst books ever, this would be in the top three.
My verdict for this book: 2 out of 10. Easy reading if you are really bored, but not worth buying.

Re: 50 shades of grey
they are actually pretty good books. There is alot of tickle fight parts, so much so that i started to skip over those parts. IT's not as amazing as people make it out to be but it's not bad as an easy read.

Re: 50 shades of grey
So I guess they're making a 50 Shades of Grey movie and Emma Watson was almost one of the stars in it. I'm really glad she denied them. I'd have been rather disappointed to see her in a movie like that already imo.

Re: 50 shades of grey
I'm reminded of a book that came out in 1983 titled,"Silk." It was mildly controversial in that it had some graphically written sexual content. It was all the talk on the school bus. None of us had actually read it, but we were already making jokes about it. 50 shades is like that, shocking and fascinating to a ten year old.
Let me take a different tack.... 50 shades makes many (read: average) adults feel like that titillated ten year old again, which is a key reason for its popularity.
