Not your average pop song...
Does anybody know any remarkable music which is somewhat experimental or so-called avantgarde - something which breaks away from the usual genres etc.?
For instance this one:

Mr. Bungle - Desert Search For Techno Allah

Hey, "Firestarter" fits perfectly here! The thread title basically says it all...
Other examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMakj50l10g
Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhnEkfX-nKQ
Primus - Kalamazoo
But it could as well be some mellow music or *anything* that sounds different somehow...

Not average group , Linkin park. i like 'em a lot, but what i find strange about them that they have songs like Rap--then quiet love songs---then heavy metal--then rock--then pop--- then dj's stuff, all in each and every cd of'em.
strange isn't it?
kind'a love song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H7ZwDawsb4
kind'a rap mixed with great dj work mixed with rock what?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUyGziAjES4
Heavy metal mixed with rap
umm i lost the link
i dont know how to call it ..tecno.. umm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UA9L_w4TWM
and i can go on 'n on...
Anyway i dont know many or ..any other bands that do that.

Re: Not your average pop song...
Since I know you don't like David Bowie, I won't even start talking about his musical variety...
I really like what Beck (the one who made "Loser") did during the 90ies. I won't try to name the musical genres he covered, I really don't know all their names, but here are just three examples:
Straight: Sexx Laws
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC7ucvAAVvw
Funny: MTV Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ-orW3ZJ1k
Weird: Diamond Bollocks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCe12hHkuXg
I saw him live in 99. There were about 12 musicians on stage, including a brass section and a DJ on turntables. The band improvised a lot, and at some point during the concert Beck sent them all backstage for a break, hung an old acoustic guitar around his neck, asked the crowd "What do you wanna hear next?" and did some solo pieces. Overall they played for nearly three hours, and it was one of the greatest concerts I ever witnessed!

I think The Cure totaly fit in here. Their music is ... different. Their video's are like dreams.
A few of their many songs:
The forest

Love cats.

Wow Effie, I actually liked it.
It's a good thing though that I don't undertand the text, because I think it would freak me out.

Beck seems to be a perfect fit for this thread, as shown in this video. Percussion a la dinner!

Ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, man! That is great. Andy was a genius. A shining star. A curve-wrecker. He once took his ENTIRE AUDIENCE out for cookies and milk after the show! Really! This was great. Thanks, Bella!
